Panthers Sign Former Kentucky Wildcats Infielder Elliot Curtis
The Kitchener Panthers are excited to announce the signing of Infielder, Elliot Curtis (Waterloo, ON), for the 2023 season.
The versatile 24 year old brings with him an impressive baseball resume and skillset which can impact a game in several ways. Known for his competitiveness, baseball IQ and well rounded skillset, the Panthers’ infield and heart of the batting order will be bolstered significantly by this signing.
Elliot joins the Panthers after having spent the past two seasons playing professionally in the Frontier League for Quebec and Trois-Rivieres in which he recorded 62 hits, 36 RBI and 5 home runs in 78 games. Prior to his professional career, Elliot was a standout at Columbia State CC (NJCAA D1) where he hit .379 with 11 home runs, 64 RBI and had an OPS of 1.118 in 50 games. He spent the final two seasons of his collegiate career as a member of the (NCAA D1) University of Kentucky Wildcats, members of the SEC. He appeared in 48 games and recorded a .295 average with 3 home runs, 21 RBI and 25 runs scored.
The former Ontario Terrier has also made stops in the well respected Alaskan Summer League and New England Collegiate League between college seasons and is currently spending the winter playing for the Melville Braves in Perth, Australia. He made a brief appearance with the Panthers in 2021, appearing in 4 regular season games, batting .385 with a home run and 3 RBI.
The singing of Elliot adds to what the Panthers believe to already be the strongest core of local players in the IBL. His advanced approach at the plate projects well against IBL pitching and his versatility and ability with the glove should bolster the Panthers’ team defence. His SEC, professional and international experience will make him a veteran presence amongst the team and his work ethic, and baseball IQ will be a tremendous addition to the team’s culture and ability to win games.
A true “gamer”, the Panthers are thrilled to welcome home one of the region’s top talents and we’re sure he’ll be a fan favourite in no time!
