SIGNING TRACKER: Owen MacNeil coming to town
KITCHENER - The Kitchener Panthers are adding a former Hamilton Cardinal to its pitching staff.
Owen MacNeil has signed with the club for 2025.
MacNeil spent 2021 and 2022 in Hamilton, where he collected a combined 1-3 record in 10 total appearances. He has an IBL-career 6.23 ERA in 34.2 innings of work.
He struck out 38 total batters between the two seasons, and walked 26.
Lately, the six-foot-four hurler has been a stud for the University of Charleston in West Virginia (NCAA D2).
Last season, he had a 2.82 ERA in 51 innings with 42 strikeouts. MacNeil also threw a no-hitter against Concord on April 26, 2024, striking out five. His only blemish was two free passes for hitting a batter.
"I foresee Owen playing a big role on our pitching for this upcoming season," said general manager Shanif Hirani. "He has a bulldog mentality on the mound and is someone who always wants the ball. We are excited to add him to our pitching staff."
