SIGNING TRACKER: Panthers add switch hitter Yosuke Fujie
KITCHENER - A young switch hitter is heading to Kitchener from the west coast.
Yosuke Fujie is bringing speed and versatility to the lineup.
He is in the midst of his senior season with the Campbellsville Tigers (NAIA) in Kentucky, where he has six home runs in the first 18 games. He is hitting .344.
Fujie hit .269 in 42 games during his junior year in 2024. He drove in 16 runs, including three homers and was nine for 10 on stolen bases.
The 22-year-old also played for the Bismarck Larks of the Northwoods League, based in Bismarck, North Dakota last year.
There, he hit .238 with a double, a pair of triples and a home run in 11 games.
He won a bronze medal in 2019 for British Columbia at the Canada Cup tournament, and was also part of the Tournament 12 showcase at Rogers Centre in 2019.
"I am very excited to add Yosuke Fujie to our team. He has shown constant improvement every year of his college career and it is evident by his numbers this year with Campbellsville," said general manager Shanif Hirani.
"Also, being able to add a switch hitter to the lineup offers us a lot of flexibility moving forward. We can't wait for Yosuke to join us."
